Former Aston Villa defender has advised the club to deny Chelsea access to Jack Grealish this summer. The former England international opines that the player is the “best talent in the Championship.”
Grealish was continually linked with a Spurs move until the Blues stormed in. Warnock is warning that Grealish remain at the club if they want to fight for promotion at the end of the season. He asked that Steve Bruce keep the player, depending on what the investors bring in. He reckons that for Villa to survive the tough Championship battle this term, they need someone like Grealish.
“I think Jack is probably, if not the, best talent in the Championship. And to have a player like him who’s capable of unlocking doors out of nowhere, scoring a wonder-goal, he’s a player that you need within your team,” he said.
Bruce said he just wanted to keep going at first but with the new people on board, he is looking forward to the start of the new season. They face Hull next week.
The coach said the new owners do not expect massive changes overnight so it would be a gradual process, but at least there is a plan in place. He said the squad is good enough and there are some decent young players which should help them achieve their aims.
