Sunderland wants to escape the bottom relegation zone now with the transfer window officially opened; it is their chance to bring in fresh arrivals that can boost their chances on surviving another season in the Premier League.
Fiorentina’s Marcos Alonso joined Sunderland on a loan deal that will see him playing for the Premier League club until the end of the season and the Spanish defender is the first signing of Gus Poyet as the manager of Sunderland since being appointed as the head coach of the club back in October of 2013.
“I can confirm Marcos is going to be with us for the rest of the season. I was looking for a player in that position on the left side and I hope he will help us and everybody will like him. I am delighted that everything is agreed.” said Poyet.
It is also believed that Sunderland is having talks with Brighton regarding a possible move for Liam Bridcutt and Will Buckley as Poyet is an admirer of both players and he believes that adding them into the squad would be a huge boost for the team and would be a great way to help them in their journey of avoiding the drop zones.
Buckley and Bridcutt have already sparked the interest of many other Premier League clubs and their performances in the Championship League with Brighton has impressed a number of teams that are in pursuit of snatching them up but Gus Poyet is hoping that Sunderland can do it faster than all the others.
Although it’s going to be a task fairly difficult for Sunderland to accomplish as both players are key figures in the team of Oscar Garcia and they are trying to earn a spot in the Championship league standings that will earn them a promotion to the Premier League.
